5 Smartphones to Buy If You are Afraid of Spending $1000 on iPhone X
iPhone X is probably the most-talked-about phone this year. People are in love with it because of its large screen size, incredible cameras, its face ID technology, and its bezel-less body.
The biggest complaint among people, including Apple lovers, is its price. A brand new iPhone X will set you back $1,000.
If you are still not convinced about spending that much on a phone, here are five phones you can consider buying.
Of course, with these phones, you will miss out several things that are only found in Apple phones like the iOS ecosystem, the Apple brand, and the face ID feature.
Samsung Galaxy S8
Price: $728
Savings: $272
Samsung Galaxy 8 is one of the flagships from Samsung released a few months ago. The phone features several features similar to that of the iPhone X.
As shown in the image above, the phone has fewer bezels than the iPhone. It has an excellent camera that some believe is better than the X.
Its other features are an excellent Quad HD+ Super AMOLED screen, a 3,000 mAh battery, fast charging on both wireless and wired capabilities, expandable memory card, and sim card, and 4K video recording.
The phone comes with Android Nougat, and you can easily upgrade to the latest version called Oreo.
Another alternative by Samsung is Samsung Galaxy S8+ which has similar features to S* with the only exception being its screen size. It starts at $820 which means you can save $180.
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
Price: $700 and $800
Savings: $300 and $200
Apple launched these two devices at the same event that they began iPhone X. The two got little coverage because of their similarities to iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
The two phones have similar features with the only difference being the screen size. iPhone 8 has a screen size of 4’7 while the latter has a size of 5’5.
They are powered by an A11 Bionic Chip which is the newest generation of Apple’s chips. The other significant features of the phones are Retina HD Display, wireless charging, 3D Touch, Neural Engine, 12MP camera, the ability to record 4K videos, and splash and dust resistance.
Alternatively, if you want more savings, you can buy iPhone 7 and 7 Plus which have similar features for between $550 and $750.
Google Pixel 2
Price: $650
Savings: $350
Google Pixel 2 is the second-generation phone from Google. It was manufactured by HTC and released early this year.
The primary competitive edge for Google Pixel 2 is its camera. Many reviewers have commended the phone for its excellent camera for photos and videos.
Its other features are Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, its 2700 mAh battery, a 5-inch screen, and a fingerprint sensor.
Like the first generation of the Pixel phone, the new version comes with very limited bloatware and a quick way to access the Google Assistant.
The main drawbacks of the phone are its big bezels, no headphone jack, and no micro-SD slot.
If Pixel 2’s size is a hindrance for you, you can go for Google Pixel 2XL which starts at $849.
LG V30
Price: $800
Savings: $200
LG is one of the most underrated smartphone companies in the world, and their latest flagship proves it. The V30 is so close to the iPhone X with the only constraint being the lack of the face ID.
Its top features are thin bezels, a large 6’’ OLED display, a big 3,300 mAh battery, HDR10 Supported picture quality, dual rear cameras with 16 MP Standard-Angle lens, and 13 MP wide-angle lens, and the latest version of Android.
The phone has minor drawbacks. Its ergo metric design makes it a bit difficult to hold, and its camera has a slightly slow auto focus.
Huawei Mate 10
Price: $825
Savings: $175
Huawei is one of the largest phone manufacturers from China. Each year, it sells more than 10 million phones, mostly in the emerging markets.
The phone’s main features are its 5.9-inch display, a big 4000 mAh battery with quick charging and smart power management capabilities, fast charging, and machine learning capabilities.
A significant feature of the phone is its camera which is manufactured by Leica, one of the biggest camera companies in the world. The camera uses a real-time recognition and AI-powered Bokeh effect.
The main issue with the phone is its massive bezels which are found at the top and bottom side of the phone. Another slight problem is its EMUI display which comes with several bloatware.
